Comic Review - The Sixth - The Legend of Karna

I have seen Vishnu Chevli's review of "Shiva - The legends of the Immortals" comic and from then I wanted to read comic so badly. The sixth -The legend of Karna is my first-time comic reading experience and it's been awesome. And I started asking myself why haven't I tried comics genre earlier.

The sixth is the story about one of the characters from the great Epic Mahabharata, the abandoned brother of Pandavas, Danvir Karna. The story brought in a new way of connecting it to the present day affair. Karna was born in this century as Karanvir and slowly realizing who he was. I found the story of the sixth awesome. Do check yourself to know more.

The author has covered every hit formula of an entertainment read in the story. It has mystery, thriller, mother's concern, hero's past life, villains, friendship, generosity. The character of Karanvir, the protagonist, is portrayed wonderfully.  Not just Karanvir, but all major characters of the comic have been planned wonderfully to keep you in the chair and wanting to read more. The graphics of the comic is also great, it felt like I was watching a movie and reading at the same time.

I have loved this comic and I haven't found any flaw in it, and I am eager to read the next part of the comic.

Comic Review - I am Kalki by Vimanika Comics

Ever since I have received the comic bundle from Vimanika my 3.5-year-old son has taken the copy of Kalki for himself. Almost for 2 months, he asked us to read it every night. Even after 2 months, the book is one of his favorites. He still insists us to read it at least twice in a week.

By mistake, we have directly received second episode of the series. But I got the crux by reading recap page. Kalki is based on Hindu mythological story of Kalki avatar. As per mythology, the Lord Vishnu will come back as Kalki to fight the Kali/Kaliyuga/sinners/bad people. As per series, our hero of Kaliyuga who will save us from Kali is born as Kalki. To give him safety his soul was divided into two parts. One was sent to different loka for training. While one part was kept on earth. This is as per the recap. The second episode starts with a sad boy, who was guided by his father to take help of devotion to relieve himself from misery. On another site in a jungle near Bangalore, Kali appeared and fought with the Naga king. Things ended with hazy details.

There are no doubts about the quality of the artwork, the detailing of characters and the quality of the pages. I have and I will always give a 5 out of 5 for the same. But I found things a little bit confusing in this Episode. Maybe after reading the first part, my doubts will be cleared.

Comic Review of Doctor M - Kalapani Comics

Another wonderful episode (New Series) by Vimanika. This is their first superhero series that I am reading. Though Doctor M has not revealed this powers yet. But series seems promising.

The story started with two plots. One with a group of terrorists wanted to spread chaos entered a school and left a device which was throwing some kind of bubbles on kids. Another plot is about Doctor M who found out his neighbor's kid infected with a strange kind of disease. All the doctors in India have said no to the case. Doctor M started diagnosis of his cells.

Comparing with the previous series by Vimanika, Doctor M is the shorted. I personally felt the first episode in any series should be long enough to bring readers back. Otherwise, everything is awesome about series and episode.

Eldritch Chronicles - A New Beginning By Vimanika Comics

I have read around 7-8 comics by Vimanika Comics till now, except Kaged Muscles, others were based on Hindu mythology. Kaged Muscles was not able to impress me as good as mythological ones. Their mythological series are far better. But I was proven wrong when I read Chronicles of Eldritch by them.

Chronicles of Eldritch is the story of a dystopian world, where the war between countries is common. Most of the world is ruled by local warlords. Antagonist organization called Scarlet Syndicates rule these nations by provoking wars & supplying weapons. You can consider GIJoe kind of situation. In that harsh world, there are some magicians who have superhuman powers. Scarlet Syndicate is on a continuous mission to hunt these mages. These mages are the only hope for the world. There are some young mages who join this mage organization know as 'Eldritch Chronicles". To know more check out comic.

Now considering writing style it is written for middle grade4rs & YA. Language is simple & proper (no abusive language). The concept is a mixture of Hary Potter, G. I. Joe & X-men but I didn't mean it is stolen. The plot is still different.

The artwork is always plus point of Vimanika so I don't need to give emphasis on that. Also, the quality of books is also awesome. A sure show recommendation for kids. I would like to know what will happen in next part.

Kaged Muscle – Action Packed Comic

Till now I have read only mythological comics from Vimanika comics. So I was considering them as mythological comic maker, but Kaged Muscle has completely changed my perception.

Kaged will take you to dark action thriller set in USA underworld kind of situation. While taking out his drunkard friend from bar our protagonist (A star/celebrity trainer) met with street thugs. A small fight started with abusive conversation converted into a big mess which took many lives. Though I was considering our hero as martial arts expert only but the author has kept something under sleeves at the end of the volume.

Somewhere I felt that content was missing, scenes were full of action sequences only. Not recommended for kids below 16. Overall I liked it.

Vimanika has made sure that unlike other kids' comics, they always showed reason behind all mythological events. Many people know this story, but why Shiva replaced Ganesha' head with the elephant is known to very few. When comics come with entertaining learning from, everyone loves it. I am keeping all these Vimanika comics as precious gems for my kid. I will make him go through when he will reach the age.

Comic Review - Shiva - The Legend Of The Immortal Book 2 by Vimanika Comics

I was completely in love with quality & level of artwork of Vimanika when I read the first volume of Shiva. So bar for next volume was already set higher in my mind. I am happy that it was matched.

The first part completed with Shiva in turmoil after losing Sati An asura named Tarakasura got boon from Brahma that only son of Shiva can kill him/ This set trail of events for the union of Shiva and Shakti once again. Shakti - the divine Goddess - took birth as Parvati. Through her tapas - asceticism she convinced Shiva to marry her. But things were not smooth, as deva's intervention made many things went haywire. Do read the second volume for more.

Vimanika has improved a lot in the context of content alignment. The confusion in dialogs following was high in Shiva, medium in Durga & low in this part. The consistency of figures also improved a lot. A perfect gift or read for the young generation to make them aware of Hindu mythology.

Durga - Vimanika Comics

I have already praised work of Vimanika Comics in my last review of Shiva - The Immortal. Those who have missed it can check here.

While Shiva is an ongoing story. Durga is the collection of three stories of "Aadi Shakti" (Devine Goddess) incarnations. The first story covers Mahisasura - killing by Goddess Durga. The second part covers the Vaishno-Devi story, where she killed Bhairav Nath. The Last story is about Goddess Mahakali's rise & end of Raktabija.

Though these stories we heard from our childhood, Vimanika has given a modern way of portraying. Where Shiva was pure mythology-based series, these series have some fictional content to make it more interesting. This series is for more mature people & young ones. The artwork is better than Shiva.

The only issue I found was a confusion of following dialogs. I am used to referring flow of Manga, maybe that's the reason. So I am not forcing on that point. Talking about ratings

Comic Review - Shiva - The Legend Of The Immortal Book 1

I love to read Japanese manga. And I won't feel ashamed to accept that I still follow One Piece every week. I have read Naruto, Fairy Tale, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist & many more mangas. And I always felt that our culture & heritage is rich enough to create multiple comics based on it. I have seen usual Indian comics like Chacha Chaudhari & Nagaraj but there was a missing component in it. These comics were written for kids & kids only. Whereas in other countries comics were written with different angles for different age groups.

When I have seen few posters of Vimanika comics I instantly felt that missing gap can be filled with these wonderful comics. I instantly went for Shiva - The legend of Immortals. I selected it based on cover only but the moment I opened it I felt like a precious book. It's artwork, quality of content & quality of product pages are wonderful.

The story is not new for those who have kept eyes ears open to our mythology. The first part covers the creation of universe followed by the creation of mankind. The grudge of Daksha against Shiva, union of Shiva & Sati, finally separation fo Shiva & Sati. Though the story seems less, for comics followers it is enough in one volume. And each sequence was properly drawn with required details. The only issue I found at some places that characters faces were different but not a big issue.

A perfect gift for kids & young age once. Though any age group can enjoy it.
